Report: Ainge really working the phones already

For those who don’t know, free agents signed this summer can now be traded, which means some teams are looking to take those guys who have been playing well and gauge interest… while other teams are like Ron Burgundy jumping into the bear pen and immediately regretting their free agent decisions (I’m looking at you, Charlotte).

As it turns out, Danny Ainge is really out there trying to earn a Christmas bonus…

It’s hard to say exactly what Ainge is trying to do here.  Is he shopping in the bargain bin to see if teams with panicky owners will make panicky trades?  Or is he trying to move a player like Jeff Green or Brandon Bass and just now making calls because Evan Turner and others can be attached?   Evan Turner can’t be traded until the 27th because he was signed later. Thanks to those who pointed it out and corrected me

Either way, Danny’s trying to do something… so you can bet the next couple of months between now and the trade deadline will be busy and full of all sorts of fun (and not so fun) rumors.

Bass & Evan turner + first round pick for Greg Monroe

      Too much
Bring him in when he’s a FA in summer
If he’s already gone… Move to next target

Everyone seems to be thinking this way. I don’t see him choosing to come to Boston & I certainly wouldn’t over pay for him. Why would the Clips pick be too much? Get him here to see how great it is here and sign him if he works out to a reasonable deal.

I think he will strive in Boston as long as we use him right. He knows he will be a key player and starting center as soon as him come in.

Only thing im worried with is C’s doesnt seem to be fond of post ups. A problem which is also holding sully back.

As far as spending those first rounders go, im all for it. We got plenty.

            Yes I agree.

If he wont come to Boston in the summer theres no way he agrees to a trade to Boston. He can veto any trade and has said he would so he can retain his bird rights. Without his bird rights, the Celtics are limited in how they can retain him. Essentially, they’d have to clear the cap space NOW to be able to retain him in the summer. Its not impossible, but it can be done in the summer while retaining the assets we have instead of giving them up and potentially not being able to retain him.

I just feel he would come here as a trial run but yeah not knowing if your keeping him would be a risk.

I think Monroe would be more than open to coming to Boston. Hes spent 4 years in Detroit and hes looking to get out (who wouldn’t). Thats why id rather retain our assets AND get his bird rights with signing him.

Not that its a bad deal, but giving ANYTHING up for Monroe this year for ANY team is a bad idea.

I can’t wait till something happens. Just hope its not Rondo involved.

Ainge give us holiday presents! lol im guessing it is bass first one out the door, then thornton. I dont think Green is going anywhere soon unless he has a replacement coming in with picks.

Every year Rondo gets traded, Bass gets traded to a contender, Green gets traded for a first rounder….i want to see a deal before i discuss it. I would not be surprised to see this team stay together for this season.
