Recap: Celtics hold off dirty, rotten, no-good Heat

ThomasHeat

The Celtics rebounded from yesterday’s disheartening loss in Orlando with a gritty, gutty 100-90 victory over the gutless Miami Heat.

Isaiah Thomas played the closer yet again, scoring 12 of his 25 points in the 4th quarter. Aging cheap-shot artist Dwyane Wade had a big 4th quarter too, (15 of his game-high 34 points), but Wade fizzled over the final 4 minutes.

I was curious to watch Heat big man Hassan Whiteside. Turns out, he’s a scumbag:

Whiteside was assessed a flagrant-2 for this cowardly cheapshot on Kelly Olynyk. Anything less than a 5 game suspension will be a travesty. If you’re gonna be a tough guy, at least do it face to face. Attacking someone from behind is the sleaziest of moves.

The Green

Gigi Datome tied a career high 13 points on 6-9 shooting. James Young who?

Brandon Bass continues to kick-ass. Tonight he dropped 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. He was a game-high +20. I’m guessing he had 4 or 5 dunks.

The Gross

How many games have the Celtics won when they shot 24% (6-25) from 3? I bet it’s not many. Fortunately, the Heat were worse (4-17 3 FG, 23.5%.

The Grid

  • The Celtics had 1 turnover in the 2nd half (9 total)
  • Boston is 6-1 on the second night of back-to-backs (Correction – 8-5 total on season, 6-1 in the last 7)
  • Celtics bench had 59 points
  • Miami shot twice as many FTs as Boston (34-17)

Man I was really liking Whiteside until this, wth kind of bball is he playing? IT do NOT GET INJURED, I don’t care if you don’t actually read this blog, do not get injured! It seems fairly unlikely we make the 8th seed, but who knows…

Whiteside is just another immature young player…as soon as he did that tackle play on KO I knew why…just before the play happened you could see Birdman coming to the scorers table…Whiteside knew he was getting pulled from the game so decided to get his moneys worth…what a punk…i hope he does get a suspension for that play.

the turnover stats the last couple games are amazing. can anybody explain this phenomenon to me? we change players like socks , but very rarely commit turnovers, all while playing at a fast pace.

    • Andre

I was trying to wrap my head around this as well, how did we suddenly become so good at taking care of the ball?

      • Andre

Ahhh…. it’s taking Evan Turner, and having KO off the floor. Not that it’s entirely KO’s fault, but 5 turnovers (against Grizz) is not a good look.

Learning under the great dirty scumbag Wade are you Hassan? Rat Riley bringing back his dirty 90’s Knicks swag back I see. Fuck Cryami and their 3 petty championships. 17 rings: Get at our level.

    • Curt Hays

THIS is my kind of fan!

    • eddysamson

Why is it that every time I drop a F bomb in a comment on here it gets screened and sits there hidden and never shows up? How does this guy get around that?

      • forever_green

Ha, IDK. But I do miss saying whatever we want.

      • Curt Hays

        Well fuck you, Eddy.

        • Curt Hays

HAHAHAHA, @eddysamson:disqus, I hope you find that as funny as I did.

        • eddysamson

          noooooooo 🙁

  • massappeal

Gee, it’s hard to imagine how Isaiah Thomas got knocked down by Dwyane Wade…https://masscommons.wordpress.com/2015/03/10/im-not-saying-dwyane-wade-is-a-dirty-player-but-part-39/

The Bench was sick last night!

Whiteside is way overhyped. I saw a post game interview a month back in which he had trouble forming complete words, never mind sentences. Granted, if I played in an NBA game I’d surely have worse than speech issues afterwards.

He is playing for the payday, that’s it. I imagine he had a talk with his agent or a “trusted advisor” sometime around Christmas, and was told: “if you can calm down and act right for a few months, you’ll make $40 million dollars.”

Well, the wheels are coming off early. He’s proving his minimum salary worth and showing why he’s better suited for smoke-filled brute fests overseas. Some NBA exec may end up paying him $40 mil. I can only imagine the madness.

Now Brandon Bass on the other hand… wow! outta nowhere! Proving his professionalism and showing all those title contenders what they missed out on.
