Rajon Rondo could be back for opening night

Nice bit of news coming out of Celtics practice today.  The Celtics say Rondo went to get a scan on his hand and it shows good progress.  Since it’s a bone and not muscle or ligaments, once the scan shows the bone is healed, then it’s healed and that’s it.  If he does make it back in time for opening night, that’d be about four and a half weeks since the surgery, which isn’t completely outrageous or “rushing” back.  Said Rondo….

We’ll see what happens next week.  At the very least, if he does miss any regular season time, it seems like it might only be a couple of games.

One other brief injury update out of practice:  James Young will likely be back in time for the preseason finale.  Expect a lot of guys like Rodney McGruder and Dwight Powell.  The regular rotation guys won’t play much.

Update:  Here’s some video of Rondo at practice today

it could just be me being totally optimistic– but they look good- for real- now i don’t think they will win a championship this year of course- but for our current situation, with the talent we have.. things seem good- people are developing properly, the defense is there.. i like it.
-it kills me, all the “haters” out there.. when we had the KG era (and were still wining) they all said “ohh they are too old”; “they are done”.. now we are young as can be, have pics coming out of our ears and its “dude they suck”
-i am very happy with our situation, i think we literally couldn’t ask for anything more with what was available to us right now. i love the defensive intensity and i think they will be very fun to watch this year-
-i also absolutely think, that as constituted, our team will make the playoffs, unless they dump some of this talent, they will be in the playoffs for sure
-vegas has us to win 25.5 games. and i cant find one “hater” to take the under on that against me.
