The Blazers just traded for Ryan Gomes... but they're not going to keep him.
Team president Larry Miller said the Blazers will probably release newly acquired forward Ryan Gomes in order to avoid taking on the remaining three seasons of his contract.
The team has until Tuesday to make a decision, but Miller said he has already told Gomes' agent not to fly him to Portland.
I love Ryan Gomes. I think he's a hard worker with a great attitude and he could be a huge contributor off the bench.
He makes about $4 million a year right now... and I assume that he'll be happy to make around that moving forward. The question is... do we bring Gomes in, who can play the 3 and 4 spots, with part of the MLE... or do we save it all for a big man?
I'd like to find a way to make it happen.
