We can thank the New Jersey Nets for it too...
Forsberg goes so far as to list all of the scores from the Celtics 18-game losing streak and says we can explore more in the ESPN archive. Explore more? While I'm at it, why don't I watch a replay of Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS followed up with the 2007 Super Bowl? And then I can punch myself in the groin, gouge out my eyes, stick a nail in my ear...With the New Jersey Nets dropping their 18th consecutive game Wednesday to start the 2009-10 season (and 19th in a row overall dating back to last year), it seems like a good chance for Celtics fans to take a moment to reflect on just how far this team has come since their own 18-game losing streak during the 2006-07 season.
The Celtics endured that franchise-worst skid from Jan. 7 to Feb. 11, 2006. After the final loss of the stretch -- one in which former Celtic Ricky Davis made a winning jumper in the final seconds of a 109-107 loss to the Timberwolves -- captain Paul Pierce tried to remain positive.
"You can feel it in the locker room, each loss definitely hurts," said Pierce, who missed much of the streak due to injury. "These guys are going to keep playing hard. We just need to get it out of our head."
